Garden City Park is a hamlet in Hempstead. During 1787 until 1874, it
was known as Clowesville and was the county seat of Queens County
which was home to the courthouse and jail. The area was settled in
the 1640’s as part of Hempstead. In 1784, it was known as North
Hempstead. In 1836, the Long Island Rail Road came to the hamlet
along with the steamboat industry from Manhattan.
The schools located in Garden City Park include Garden City Park
School for students in kindergarten through 6th grades and Mineola
High School for students in 9th through 12th grades. The area is
home to local businesses and residents. The hamlet has its own fire
department which is known for the Mustangs their racing team which
has been received the championship title 11 times of the 1 st battalion.
Garden City Park is also known for its soccer team the Garden City
Park Tide which has won over 100 games and had two seasons of
being undefeated.
The most popular attraction is the African American Museum offering
